I'm surprised this thread hasn't gotten more attention. I watched the episode the other night. In a way, it's about a lot of what we talk about around here.

I laughed out loud when they were trying to hoard gas at the gas station and things got out of hand. My wife asked what was so funny, didn't i think that could happen. I told here the problem with the scene was in a total black out, the pumps won't work. She said "Oh yeah". ...wonder if the rest of the countr will get that.

Gotta agree, it's not realistic, but will be interested to see if everyone "pulls together" or if it deteriorates into chaos. Being a small town (and Hollywood), probably the first.

Darn, I missed the first episode......... If that were to happen in my Micky Mouse town all hell would break loose because like I have said before "About 76% of the people here are either on welfare or food stamps and most of them are druggies"........ I wished that I had known about this before I committed myself to live here.

I don't/can't watch television, .... have
an LCD display and DVD player, but no TV tuner.

I seem to recall that some service stations
in my town were pumping gas during a massive
power outage, they had generators to power
the pumps.

You didn't miss it. I saw an online preview. I think the first episode airs tonight. On CBS at 8:00pm. That might be MST so check to be sure.

The last time I saw somthing like this was "The Stand" and it is about the SCARIEST movie I have ever SEEN! I bought the SET of 4 tapes and watch it about once a year the full 8 hours!:eek: :afraid:

It helps keep me from geting COMPLACENT and avoid working on this place. I Know IT is coming eventualy but I have been preparing and prepositing my self since 81 and some times get lazy and don't want to do the hard projects I had as part of the BIG PLAN!

Sort of figured I would have some help and tried to set up a survival team but it was way harder than they all thought --- NOT a FUN VACATION but real hard WORK so they usualy only showed up once or twice.:confused: :afraid:

Most decided I was NUTS and now 25 years later they are all the more shure I am NUTS! LOL ---- But IT IS COMING and I'm back to working my ass off here laying natural stone walls and many other projects a little every day at my own steady pace.

Sorry, the show sucked. Really bad. It was like Dawson's Creek meets "The Day After Tomrrow".

Keep an eye on the black guy, he has more brain than all the whites put together......

He told them to paint over the name of their city on their patrol cars but that town is so small that anyone around would know who the sheriff is, just like here.

Like it when the told them to use the city's road work lights to light up the town.

I agree with that. But, I'm interested enough to watch episode 2. I watched episode one on the internet and enjoyed not watching the commercials. I don't think I can stomach the luke warm show plus commercials.

I believe episode 2 airs tonight at 8:00 pm EST.

Off topic:

I usually don't watch television except for educational purposes, but I ran across a show on Sci-fi a few days back called Firefly. I instantly liked it and did some research. It was on for almost a full season back in 2002 on Fox and was canceled. It was written by the guy who does Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

It's a Science fiction/ western. If you liked the Han Solo character from Star Wars, you would also like this. Apparently, after the cancelation, the fans went crazy and generated enough momentum to get the creator to make a movie called Serenity, based on the series.

I went out and bought the TV series on DVD and the movie. I enjoyed the combo and would recommend it to anyone that likes sci-fi.

Do a websearch on Firefly and you will see how popular it is. It's kind of strange for a 1st season canceled TV show.

You might be able to catch reruns on the Sci-fi channel. Especially on Sept. 30th, which is the 1 year anniversary from the movie release. I never heard of this show before a week ago though.

The media always portrays whites as stupid and petty and usually throw in a black guy to guide them with words of wisdom.

My feelings also, though I have never watched Dawson's Creek (just heard about it).

I'll give it till the second commerical break, then bail if it turns into a soap opera.

It's just another way to remind everybody that terrorist could nuke you back into the stoneage at any time. Propaganda, just like the weird Sept 11/"support the troops" movies being cranked out.

Then I guess what you're saying is that wasn't Morse? Probably expected most wouldn't know the difference. I didn't.

I say the black guy is CIA or some intelligence that found out what was going to happen and got his family and bugged out to Jericho. (a tactically safe place).

REALLY didn't like the Prison breakout sub plot. Glad they shut that down.

The state of Israel is very famous famous for doing that...... first they say "a rumor" then they say "could be" and then the word is spread out and when it becomes true no one says anything.
